Update

(This post actually by Rudy.)
Sorry, no pics or videos today. Lots of topics to cover in this update:

1.) Stephanie not feeling well. Poor Stephanie! She has been sick all weekend, including her BIRTHDAY yesterday. Fortunately, she has an extra day to try to recover -- she is taking Monday off as her "birthday holiday off," which is given to all full-time UMC employees. I hope she feels better soon. The children have been more than a handful, to say the least -- I like to multitask, but this has definitely been a challenge this weekend. We should have more help with the kids when Stephanie's Mom (a.k.a. "Nana" to the kids) arrives this week.

2.) Daniel growing up too fast. Daniel just turned 18 months old on June 1st. We are starting to lose count of the number of words in Daniel's vocabulary. When he wants something, he says either "please" or "mine", and when you give him what he asks for, he says either "thank you" or "all mine." He has started to speak in sentences, the longest of which is "Where is the ball?" (seriously). On Friday night, he walked over to me and said, "Daddy, I pee-pee," and then grabbed at his diaper -- sure enough, his diaper was wet. Yesterday, he walked over to me, said "Poop," and pointed to his diaper. I took him over to the changing table, and of course, he had had a large bowel movement. Daniel's motor development has been unbelievable (at least to me). He runs well, climbs on everything, turns pages in books, etc. He has been able to throw a ball overhand for almost two months now. What amazes me most about his throwing ability are 1.) he can throw with either hand, 2.) he is often accurate in his throws (as evidenced by the many times that he has thrown a ball or another toy at me when I wasn't looking and nailed me in the head), and 3.) he often picks up two balls and throws them simultaneously (one with each hand). He also just learned how to kick a soccer ball. Now if only he could gain some more weight...or else his sister will soon outweigh him (see #3).

3.) Grace trying to outweigh her big brother. Grace has been gaining weight so fast that she is now only one diaper size behind Daniel. She is due for her 6-month well-check, so we'll see exactly how much she weighs. Grace should be crawling any day now. She rolls over all the time. When she kicks with her legs, she usually ends up moving backwards. She has started to get her knees under her more now, and she has started rocking back and forth like she is ready to start crawling.

4.) Sorry, no pictures or short videos recently. We apologize for not posting any pics or videos over the past few weeks. When we got back from our trip to Springfield, our DSL modem stopped working. We have had to use the very slow, archaic dial-up since then (apologies to those using dial-up regularly). Neither of the two Best Buys in the Jackson area have the DSL modem we need, so we may have to pay more money to purchase it from BellSouth/AT&T. Once we get everything set up, we will post more pics and videos.

5.) Upcoming move in 2008. As some of you already know, I recently interviewed with and signed with a hospitalist group in Springfield, MO. I finish my Med-Peds residency in June 2008 and will likely start my new job in mid-July 2008. CoxHealth has already set us up with a realtor, and they will fly us back out to Springfield when we want to look for a house. Now for some confusion: we currently live in Brandon, MS (suburb of Jackson, MS) and will be moving to Springfield, MO, which is only 30-45 mintues from Branson, MO -- just be sure to write the correct zip code on any mail.

6.) Finally, some credit! This past week, they gave out several awards at both the Pediatrics department's awards day and at the Medicine department's awards day. At the Pediatrics Awards day, I received an award for Medical Records Perfect Attendance (went there to sign my charts and sign on the department list EVERY week this past year). What really shocked me was the award they gave me for Teaching Med-Peds Resident of the Year.

More updates to come once we get the new DSL modem. Take care!
